Albrechtsburg Castle stands high above the Elbe River in Meissen, Germany. It was built in the late 1400s and is known as the first palace in Germany.
The story begins in 929, when King Henry I built a fortress here after a battle. This place later became important for Saxon rulers.
In 1710, the world’s first porcelain factory started inside the castle. The secret of making porcelain, or “white gold,” was kept safe in its walls.
In the 1800s, the castle was repaired and decorated with paintings, beautiful staircases, and big windows. It became a place for visitors. Today, Albrechtsburg is more than a castle.
It’s a symbol of history, art, and ideas that changed Europe.
